Snowpocalypse 2009

I missed the massive snowfall in the DC Metropolitan area back in 1996– I was living in Chicago at the time. I had actually looked forward to some epic blizzards while living there, but unfortunately the entire decade of the 90’s was not only one of the coldest for Chicago, it also experienced exceptionally low precipitation. I think we had one meager 8″ snowfall the entire time I was there (but long episodes of sub-zero temperatures!)

All this means I was ecstatic at our recent snowstorm. I estimate about 18″ fell here in Fairfax, with drifts of several feet making for some spectacular landscapes.

My sincerest wishes to all of you– a safe, peaceful and prosperous 2010…
